You Are What You Think About

You are what you think about.

This saying is not new, but do you know it? More importantly, do you use it to your advantage?

I recently attended a three day online summit with Tony Robbins. He asked us to write down where we are in life - in our career - in our relationships. Write it down.

People wrote…

Then he asked us to write down where we want to be.

People didn’t write as freely. This was harder.

Do you know why? Because we get stuck focusing on thoughts that weigh us down. When we get stuck focused on what we don’t want we can’t move into what we do want. We are what we think about.

If you see yourself as broken - weak - afraid of a challenge - terrified of change - then that is the life you will experience.

If you see yourself as whole - strong - loves a challenge - welcomes adventure - then that is the life you will experience.

Version One

  • weak
  • broken
  • afraid of a challenge
  • terrified of change

VS

Version Two

  • WHOLE
  • STRONG
  • LOVES A CHALLENGE
  • WELCOMES ADVENTURE

Between those two versions of that same person who would you want to hang out with? I choose the latter. You are in control of your thoughts.

It is hard to change your internal dialogue, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Write down what you do want! Who do you want to be? What kind of life/career/relationships do you want to experience? Post what you wrote somewhere you will see it every day (not on social media). In fact, post it somewhere you will see it multiple times a day! On the bathroom mirror is a great place!

You are what you think about (and sometimes you need to be reminded WHAT to think about so write it down)!

If you want to change your life, it starts with your thoughts.

As many of you know, the first element I teach from the stage is “Say It Out Loud”. It is imperative to speak life into your dreams. There is power in your words. When you say it out loud it gives you a different kind of ownership. It gives you power. Power can be positive or negative.

Are your thoughts positive or negative? You get to choose.
